CLEAT- Local Union Best Practices

This course prepares law enforcement personnel to serve effectively in leadership roles within local law enforcement labor organizations. Participants examine the organization’s purpose, develop short- and long-term priorities, and build effective advocacy and political relationships while keeping member interests central. The course also covers political action committees and campaign finance reporting, sound financial controls, budgeting and recordkeeping, meeting minutes, and the association’s role in supporting officers and families after a critical incident. Participants leave with practical guidance for protecting their organization, strengthening member representation, and carrying out leadership responsibilities.
