COURSE DESCRIPTION:  This course covers the digital landscape of the new frontier of criminal activity. This intensive 40-hour certification course is designed to transform Texas Law Enforcement professionals into certified cybercrime investigators, equipped to handle the complexity and pace of digital evidence. Moving beyond basic computer forensics, this training focuses on the full investigative lifecycle—from initial response and evidence seizure to advanced analysis and courtroom testimony. Participants will gain the specialized knowledge and practical skills required to successfully investigate, prosecute, and mitigate modern cyber threats.

This course will cover the following topis: Overview of Cybercrime, Introduction to Computer Basics, Introduction to the Internet, Investigations, Overview of Internet applications, Where your case begins and what you do next, Types of Evidence and its Importance, Interpreting Your Evidence (what you have now), Liabilities Associated with Evidence, Gaining Legal Access to Evidence, Practical Exercise, Review Mechanics of the Investigative Process, Get to know your Resources for Forensics Examinations, Interviewing Techniques - Complainants, Interviewing Techniques - Witnesses, Interviewing Techniques - Suspects, What we can ask for and how do we get it, Review of Forensics Reports, Community Service Programs, NetSmartz, Public Service Announcements  and Emerging Technical Trends
