COURSE OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this course is to give individuals involved in law enforcement a review of issues and statutory law updates from the 77th Texas State Legislature (2001) as they relate to the appointment of a New Supervisor.
This course is based primarily on the TCOLE Learning Objectives and meets the requirements for the training of new supervisors in the Texas law enforcement profession. Upon completion of this training, participants will have the basic foundations and methods, to apply their skills as new supervisors in the law enforcement profession. The topics covered in this course are Relevant Commission Rules and Legislative Changes; Role Identification; Values, Ethics and Principles; Communication; Leadership Styles; Counseling; Liability and Civil Rights Issues; Planning and Organizing; Civil Rights, Racial Sensitivity and Cultural Diversity; Special Investigative Issues; and the Transition.
